According to the date codes, this Shelby was manufactured in December of 1967 and is powered by a period correct “S” code 428ci Police Interceptor engine. Casting code suggests that the current block is a correct replacement, done within one year of the car’s manufacture. The transmission is a C-6 Automatic. It is also equipped with power steering and power brakes. Overall the entire consignor states that this vehicle runs and drives extremely well and they have taken great care to maintain its mechanical condition.
The body and chassis of this Shelby are in exceptional shape for a vehicle over 50 years old and its condition reflects the proper care and attention that has been given to this vehicle over the years. The body panels are described by the consignor as being original to the car and are in very good condition. Close inspection inside the rear quarter panels shows some evidence of minimal bodywork in the past. Under the hood can still be seen the factory stampings and markings. Painted in the correct Raven Black with white racing side stripes, this paint and finish is still highly presentable for an older repaint, again reflective of the care given to this car.
On the interior this Mustang is equipped with the luxury interior option with bucket seats. The original interior, carpet, and headliner are still in very good condition and are one of this Shelby’s best features. Inside the glove box, signed by Carroll Shelby, is the original factory “recommended tire pressures’ sticker. Sold with a title and registration.
