The current owner as a teenager purchased this 1948 MG TC, offered for sale at No Reserve, in 1959 to be their first car. It was placed in storage for decades until retirement when a restoration was undertaken to revive the car of their youth. A sporty car in its day, this MG was used by its prior owner in the 50’s as a daily driver and for recreational racing and comes with a unique period accessory, a Marshall-Nordec supercharger.
During the restoration, the MG was slowly disassembled down to the frame and all aspects of the car were inspected and repaired as needed. Deteriorated wood was replaced all of the metal body parts were stripped, primed and repainted. The upholstery was replaced with a new biscuit material. All interior panels were replaced as well as the carpet, dash panel, top and tonneau cover. Most of the chrome and nickel trim was replaced.
Prior to being placed in storage in the mid 1960’s, much of the mechanical work on the engine and running gear was done. During restoration, close inspection showed these areas, including the Marshall-Nordec supercharger, were found to still be in very good condition. All Jaeger gauges were shipped to England for proper restoration. All systems were checked over and restored or repaired as needed. The Thompson steering kit is new as is the Brooklands steering wheel. New tires and knock off hubs were obtained. Over two years were spent on the restoration, which was completed in the spring of 2021. Since restoration, this MG has been driven just over 30 miles. Some items, which were not completed, include the side curtain frames, tonneau cover hardware, and windscreen wiper motor. Sold with a registration
