The bike was born to replace the two-stroke 125 Turismo, dating back to the early 1950s. The engine derived from that of the Sbarazzino of 1956, a 98 cm³ single-cylinder four-stroke with pushrod and rocker arm distribution, The chassis was completely new, with an open cradle in tubes (on the Sbarazzino there were elements in pressed sheet metal). Thanks to its performance, the new 125 from Bologna was a good success.
For 1967 , the model was totally modified: the frame was new (an upper single-beam with raised closed double cradle), the superstructures and the engine was revised, available in three displacements (100, 125 and 150). With these modifications the Morinis ridden by Edoardo Dossena, Giovanni Collina and Giuseppe Gritti won the Italian Championship, and also obtained four gold medals at the Six Days. For 1968 the 150 engine was slightly increased (from 142.6 to 153.2 cm³) thanks to the increase in stroke from 54 to 58 mm. In this year the Corsair won the Italian title of the 100 with Pierluigi Rottigni.
