Created through the Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT), the Mustang Cobra was designed to be a higher performance version of the legendary Mustang. Under the hood it is powered by a 235hp 5.0 litre engine connected to a Borg-Warner T-5 transmission with phosphate coated gears and stronger bearings. During the design process of the Cobra Mustang, the SVT group upgraded the engine to include higher-performance GT40 cylinder heads, larger valves, and a stouter camshaft. Higher flow intakes, sport tuned exhausts and upgraded brakes were also part of the factory modifications. A specially crafted suspension system was also designed by the Ford SVT unit to create a vehicle that could be driven more aggressively while maintaining a smooth ride. In all, only 4,994 SVT Cobra Mustangs were produced by Ford. Of this total number, only 802 were produced with a teal exterior finish and gray leather seats. All of these features helped create what many consider to be one of the greatest cars produced during the 1990’s.
On May 21, 1993, and United Airlines Pilot purchased with, and for his wife this particular Cobra SVT Mustang. In keeping with their meticulous nature, this Mustang has been maintained and cared for to extremely high standards its entire life. From day one, the original carpeted floor mats, were placed in the hatch back and never used except to be put in place at a show. The exterior finish is in excellent condition and underneath; this Mustang’s chassis is exceptionally clean. On close inspection, all of the factory VIN sticker markings, placed on various points on the vehicle are still in place. Reflecting the nature of the original owners, every piece of documentation associated with the vehicle from the time it was built is included with the sale. Documentation includes the original window sticker, factory build sheet, original bill of sale, personalized congratulations letter from the Ford SVT division, certificate of ID from Ford, and multiple service records. Also included is a letter from Meguars, dated December 6th 1993, that outlines a preferred car care procedure for maintaining the vehicle. Overall, this special Mustang is described by its owners as being in excellent condition throughout.
One owner, fully documented original SVT Mustangs of this caliber are extremely hard to find. The combination of conditions, original ownership and documentation make this particular SVT Mustang one of the finest and most documented examples found on the market today.
