Produced for only 4 model years and with total production being 10, 20 units, the Chevrolet Cameo pickup truck is a rare breed indeed. Sporting a special treatment for the bed that saw fiberglass panels installed over the step side bed, the Cameo was a pickup that was both a workhorse and a show pony. The first-year Cameos were all white w h red trim, while the following year, 1956, saw eight colors offered.
Here we have a gorgeous 1956 Chevy Cameo that’s been the recipe t of a quality restoration with a few restomod features added. Originally a CA truck, this rock solid example was refinished in 1969 GM Turquoise. The high-quality respray is stunning to see in person, and is perfectly accented by the Cameo’s numerous, brilliant chrome and stainless steel trim components. Polished 15-inch, 5-spoke wheels wear BF Goodrich Radial T/As.
Inside, a tan headliner, sun visors and upholstery provide the ideal complement to the Turquoise paint. A full set of retro-style gauges as well as the neatly tailored seating and carpets further highlight the cabin. A tilt steering wheel adds to the comfort. ou’ll note the odometer reads 40,239 miles; that’s the total mileage on the Cameo from the ay it left the factory. As the restoration was done at 40,000 miles, it’s only been driven 239 niles since, hence it’s stunningly fresh condition.
Under the hood is a bulletproof 350 V8 that’s been beefed up with a set of three deuces along with a mild cam and dual exhaust. A TH350 automatic sends the power to the rear end. Speaking of which, this truck sports C4 Corvette rear end that, along ith the ’78 Impala front suspension gives the truck 4-wheel independent suspension. It also h s power steering and power 4–wheel disc brakes. In other words, this old truck definitely doesn’t drive like an old truck.
