Named after Edsel Ford, the son of Henry I and father of Henry II, the Edsel brand was Ford’s first attempt to break into the mid luxury market. While it shared a price range with the Mercury brand, Edsel was strongly marketed as the car of the future to honor Edsel Ford’s pioneering legacy. The Edsels featured a number of innovative technologies, including a push button automatic transmission and a speed limit warning system. Unfortunately, the Edsel brand was not meant to be, but the cars still live on.
This example of a 1958 Edsel Citation is in excellent condition and has all the bells and whistles that the Edsel brand had to offer. The vehicle has Ford’s 410ci V8 engine making 345hp. It is mated to the Teletouch Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission – a push button automatic that was ahead of its time. This Edsel is equipped with a unique spinning dial speedometer, a knob operated speed warning light, and the Novi Recirculating air conditioning system that has been recently serviced and charged. This vehicle is also one of only 2781 Edsel Citations sold in 1958. This is an opportunity to own a highly optioned and rare classic car. Sold on bill of sale ONLY.
