This remarkable matching-numbers 1973 Datsun 240Z has only 38,575 original miles and is part of the MS CLASSIC CARS “NO RESERVE” COLLECTION. This is the first Datsun 240Z MS CLASSIC CARS has offered since selling the famous green 1971 Datsun 240Z with 21,750 original miles for $310,000 in January of 2019 on BaT. As the original Manufactures Tag located on the driver’s door jam indicates this example was built in August of 1973 so this 240Z was most likely produced during the last week of 240Z production. At the time of 08/73 regular production was being changed over to begin production of the 1974 model year which were RLS30 260Z’s. This example still retains its original Owner’s Manual which is included. It also retains its original Warranty and Service Booklet with plastic warranty card which are also included. As documented, the selling dealership was Smith and Jones Datsun located in Billings, MT. It was sold to Don “Skip” Stanaway of Billings, MT on November 13th, 1973. A total of 21 original service invoices are included from 1973-1995 which document 22 years of one ownership history and the mileage. The car was sold at some point thereafter to Mitch Harrison of Newburg, OR. This second ownership history and the mileage are documented with one service invoice that is included. The car was sold to Julie Anderson of Newberg, OR in 2010. This third ownership history and mileage is documented with seven service invoices that are included. The car was sold to David Murry of Portland, OR in 2014. David purchased the car as a low mileage survivor with only 37,000 original miles. It was rust free but the paint was starting to show its age. David was a Datsun and Nissan Master Technician for many years. His vision was to bring the car to the highest level cosmetically and mechanically. He endeavored to complete all tasks in a precise manner using OEM parts whenever possible and manufacturer specifications for each process in a professional shop environment. This fourth ownership history and mileage is documented with the title and over 50 service invoices from 2014-2023 that are included. The exterior of this 240Z is in beautiful condition throughout. In 2017, the car was professionally painted in its original factory color of Silver Metallic which also included the door jams. All of the exterior trim and headlight buckets were removed for the repaint. The PPG base coat/clear coat paint was recently detailed to a show quality shine by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The car retains all of its original glass which is in very good condition. It’s equipped with a power-retractable antenna, contrasting gray tail panel, rear bumper overrider and polished exhaust outlet. During the exterior refurbishment a new driver’s side mirror, door handles and emblems were added. The car rolls on the factory correct 14” black steel wheels with OEM hub caps with the red Z center piece. The wheels are wrapped with correct and hard to find new Vredestein Sprint Classic 175HR14 tires that were added by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The mostly original black interior of this 240Z is also in beautiful condition throughout. The headliner, dash, gauges, optional center console, door panels, and carpeting are in excellent original condition. The bucket seats were re-foamed and recovered due to age. The original wood trimmed steering wheel wears a Datsun-branded horn button and frames a 160-mph speedometer as well as a tachometer, while gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage and fuel level are located on the center stack along with a replacement quartz clock. Some upgrades include a Motorsport Auto fuse box and 240Z-embroidered floor mats. The original painted engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. It still retains the original Car and Engine Number Tag. It’s powered by the original matching numbers 2.4L “L24” Inline 6cyl that was factory rated with 150HP. This engine has never been rebuilt and runs excellent with reconditioned round top dual SU carburetors. Some of the engine compartment service work included resealing the engine, adjusting the valves, ignition system, fuel pump, heater valve and reconditioning the radiator. The engine breathes through a new exhaust system that sounds sweet. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Some of the transmission related service work included machining the flywheel along with replacement of the clutch master and slave cylinders, pilot bushing, clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing and fluid hoses. The super clean undercarriage was undercoated prior to delivery when it was new to prevent any rust. The car features a Motorsport Auto strut tower brace, front and rear stabilizer bars for improved handling. The Original Custom Fit Car Bra and some additional parts are included. This car has recently been serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included.
