This highly collectible 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z has only 9,387 original miles and is a rare one year only color offering. New for for 1985, all Camaros featured refreshed noses, new deeper valance, front spoiler for the Z28 and newly introduced IROC-Z that was named after the International Race of Champions. Offered as an option package on the Z28, the Camaro IROC-Z featured an upgraded suspension, lowered ride height, specially valved Delco-Bilstein shocks, larger diameter sway bars, a steering/frame brace known as the “wonder bar” and a special decals package. It shared the Corvette’s Goodyear “Gaterback” unidirectional tires and received unique new aluminum 5-spoke 16” wheels. The Camaro IROC-Z was on the Car and Driver magazines “Ten Best List” for 1985. This example was built at the Norwood, Ohio plant in April of 1985. It was ordered with the following options: (12L)- Silver exterior, (72R)- Carmine vinyl bucket interior, (AU3)- power door lock system, (A01)- tinted glass, (A31)- power windows, (A90)- power hatch release, (B34) – front floor carpet mats, (B35)- rear floor carpet mats, (B4Z)- IROC-Z performance package, (B91)- black door edge guards, (CC1)- removable glass roof panels, (CD4)- intermittent windshield wiper system, (C60)- air conditioning, (DK6)- interior roof console, (G80)- limited slip differential, (J65)- power disc front and rear brakes, (LG4)- 5.0L 4-bbl V8, (MX0)- automatic transmission with overdrive, (N33)- comfortilt steering wheel, (QDZ)- P245/50R-16 tires, (TR9)- auxiliary lighting, (UA1)- heavy duty battery, (U75)- power antenna, (YE3)- electric tuned AM/FM Radio with cassette and (Z28)- Camaro Z28 Sport Coupe. This vehicle had an original MSRP of $15,647.00. It was shipped to Dick Easor Chevrolet located in Brockway, Pennsylvania. From the information gathered it stayed with the original owner for the next 16 years before being sold on September 19th, 2001 with 3,609 original miles. The second owner lived in Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania. The second owner kept the car for almost 5 years before selling it to the third owner who lived in Springfield, MO on June 6th, 2006 with 3,781 original miles. The second owner kept the car for almost 2 years before selling it to the third owner who lived in Mentor, Ohio on February 22nd, 2008 with 3,785 original miles. The third owner sold it to a classic car dealership named Best of Show Automotive located in Mentor, Ohio on August 24th, 2009 with 5,754 original miles. The dealership sold the car a few months later to a collector who lived in Salyersville, Kentucky on November 5th, 2009 with 5,805 original miles. The collector kept the vehicle for a little over two years and sold it to the fourth documented owner who lived in Brockport, Pennsylvania on December 6th, 2011 with 6,019 original miles. The fourth owner kept the car for almost 4 years before selling it to the fifth owner who lived in Boynton, Florida on October 6th, 2015 with 6,368 original miles. The fifth owner kept the car for the next 8 years before selling it to a classic car dealership located in Ebensburg, PA in August of 2023 with 9,263 original miles. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased it from the dealership in February of 2024 with 9,376 original miles. July of 2024 is the first time MS CLASSIC CARS listed it for sale. The exterior of this car is in excellent overall condition especially considering its original and 39-years old. The body is very straight with no noticeable dings or dents. It retains its Factory original Silver paint which is a rare and one year only color for the entire IROC-Z production run. The paint was tested with an electronic paint meter by MS CLASSIC CARS and passed as all original. Photos of the paint meter readings are in the gallery. The paint is in show quality condition with the correct factory original orange peel. As expected, there are a few chips on the hood and some light scratches on the rear deck lid in the left hand corner. The rear deck lid also has a few light blotchy areas which was common with Silver paint. The rear bumper did have a scratch on the top surface at one point and someone did a light paint blend. The decals and emblems do have some slight imperfections. All of the factory original tinted glass in is excellent condition. The front windshield still has the original 1985 Pennsylvania Inspection Sticker from 1985. The removable roof panels are also in excellent condition. All of the rubber seals are soft and pliable. The factory original power antenna is in working order. The factory original black door edge guards were removed at some point. The 16” gray and natural wheels are in near perfect condition with no signs of oxidation or deterioration. The wheels are wrapped with Copper Zeon RS3-G1 245/50/16 tires that were replaced in 2022. The interior of this car is also in excellent overall condition especially considering its original and 39-years old. The headliner and sun visors are tight which normally come unglued over time and tend to sag a bit. The roof console, dash pad, leather-wrapped steering wheel, console, door panels, seating surfaces and carpeting show virtually no sign of usage. The gauges are clear and operational. The Carmine vinyl reclining bucket seats are very comfortable. It still retains the factory original GM red carpeted floor mats that are in very good condition. Everything in the interior is in working order including the air conditioning, stereo and power equipment. The interior is free of any odors. The carpeted rear trunk compartment is spacious and in excellent condition. The original removable roof panel bag is still in place. The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout. It retains all the factory original stickers and assembly paint marks. There are no signs of oxidation or deterioration. The hood insulation is fresh in appearance and the hood light is in working order. The car is powered by the 5.0L (305 cid) 4-bbl V8 engine that runs excellent. The black air cleaner is very cleaner is in excellent condition. The hoses and rubber seals are soft and pliable. The engine is coupled to the automatic transmission with overdrive and limited slip differential. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed throughout. The floors have the correct gray primer coloring and look excellent. It retains all the factory original stickers and assembly paint marks. The power steering system, special sport suspension system and power four wheel disc braking system are in excellent working order. The original owner’s manual and front license plate bracket is included. A set of GM mud flaps and custom show board are also included. This is a great example of an original and low mileage third generation Camaro. It really runs and drives really nicely. MS CLASSIC CARS has completely serviced and detailed this car which is documented with an invoice that’s included.
