Standing at the top of the Mercedes-Benz coupe hierarchy, the CL-Class is nothing less than the best the luxury car company can offer. Based on the company’s superb S-Class sedan platform, the CL can best be thought of as an S-Class coupe, sharing powertrains and luxury features with the four-door flagship.
This 2013 CL550 4Matic has been very well cared for and has just under 32,000 miles. This sleek coupe boasts a twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 that sends a muscular yet refined 429 horsepower through a silky-smooth, seven-speed automatic transmission and on to the four wheels. Both stunning performance (0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds) and confident handling in inclement weather are here, thanks to that “4Matic” all-wheel-drive system.
The CL’s sleek coupe body style is somewhat unique for modern cars in that there is no “B” pillar between the front- and rear-side windows. Power all the windows down and there’s an uninterrupted open space on both sides of the car, providing plenty of “al fresco” cruising when the mood strikes. The beautiful black paint looks fantastic, as does the quartet of AMG triple-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, an abundance of high-quality leather and genuine wood trim, along with every power feature you can think of (including power closing assist for the long doors) let you know in no uncertain terms that this is a world-class luxury car. Cruising at high speeds is effortless and very quiet; it’s not a stretch to say traveling in the CL 550 is like being on a land-bound business jet.
Although this is a 2013, you’d be hard pressed to discern it as anything other than a pampered three-year-old car; it’s overall condition is that nice it drives as nice as it looks.
